Hello-please help...my son has a Cali. King Snake that has been eating perfect since we bought him 6 months ago but now he will not eat! He has been eating frozen fuzzies once a week and now it has been about three weeks since he ate last. He is not shedding as he did that just before he stopped eating weekly. Please some advice! Thank you!

Reply to Jav917's Post: Well Joan - I appreciate your quick help as my 7 year old loves this snake more than his dog! LOL
Well - we live in South Carolina - so we do not get really cold weather, however; we have had a few colder days than usual in the last couple of weeks. No - I have not changed anything in the habitat. Is it possible that something is wrong with the frozen mice I am trying to feed? He acts totally disinterested in the mouse when I put him in his feeding cage with it.

Sorry to be difficult but - I just wanted to add that his snake stays out in the aquarium - like he wants to come out. He is not hiding in his cave like I would think of when I think of hibernation. He seems pretty normal except a little thinner. Is there a certain amount of time I should wait and then really be worried about the not eating or be worried now and take him to a vet?

Well-I hate to sound snake-stupid but I guess he is passing stool! I cleaned some out the other day but not really sure when it was from. I would need help finding a vet because we live in a small town and am not sure if any of these vets would see a snake. On multiple web pages that I read about corn snakes - people would say that it was normal sometime for those snakes to go for a month or so without eating - but I did not know if that applied to all snakes.

I see that you gave me info about vets in CA but I am in South Carolina. Do you have any info about here?

Well - I want to thank you very much for your help! You have been very patient! I looked at the lists and there are a couple of vets about an hour from me - so I may give "Oreo" another week and if he does not eat - I will just have to seek the vet. Thanks again!Does that sound ok?
