Reply to Anna's Post: I live In the UK. The vets around me are inexperienced with reptiles. I'm a Zoology student so have access to the relevant information, but first need a prognosis from someone who may have encountered this problem before. I have only had this snake for one day and since warming her up slowly to the correct temperature she has been showing signs of distress by contorting her body and constantly, pushing the affected are against the enclosure. This morning she has settled down and is curled up, in her basking area. The discomfort may have come from being so cold for such a long time (est 3 months) and finally being warmed back up.
I'm hoping the crooked neck has come from her being motionless in that position in cold conditions for such a long tome and may correct itself with the right conditions. I have not tried feeding her yet as i'm giving her a week to settle in but she does not seem under weight or dehydrated. She shows no signs of respiratory infections or parasitic infestations but i'm awaiting a stool sample so i can be sure.
