I just replaced his UVB light it was over a year old and I was just told that it should be replaced every 6 months. Girl at petshop said it should still be o.k. but good to replace it.
He has a seperate heat lamp. Temp is about 101 and grades down to about 80 to 75 on cool side.Lights are on for 10 hours a day. Gets about 70 at nite. Diet consists of dandelion greens, collard greens, various berries, grapes, melon, squash, potatoe, I change it up everyday. Eats one time daily. He has lately more meal worms than crickets, unable to get to town to buy crickets.(we live in foothills)His substrate is REPTILITE calcium substrate. He gets JURASSI CAL 1/4 teaspoon sprinkled on his food every other feeding.Thanx for your help

Hello,

Ditch the Calci Sand, It is one of the worst substrates made. http://reptileguides.herpcenter.com/understanding-dangers-calci-t143.html?t=143 If you have to use sand use a sifted washed playsand. I actually use tile in my tank fit in the bottom. It is easy to clean and lifts out so there is no urates left in the tank. Next the meal worms are a Big No No. The diet should be 80% Veggies and 20% protein. Calcium dusted every day. The fruits are too much as well. They are nice as a treat once a week , but if fed every day they can be a big problem. You can raise you temps to 110 and check with a digital probe thermometer. The stick ons can be off as much as 20*F. I will give you a link for the diet. http://www.repticzone.com/articles/lettuceandleavesrated.html . The problem sounds like you may have a parasite bloom or the fruits have cause the diahrrea. I would stop the fruits, stop the butternut squash and potato. The Butternut sqaush can make the stools loose(We use it for constipated Beardies). I would give your baby a nice warm soak in a bath with Pedialyte and warm water for about 20 mins. Just feed the greens and crickets. I would get a fecal sample into a Vet that specializes in Herps. I can help you with that if you tell me the biggest city close to you. As far as feeder insects you can feed roaches, Crickets, silk worms, tomato horned worms, super worms and wax worms for treats.

I am goind to give you a link for Crickets it is http://www.crix-n-wiggles.com/ Thsis is a friend of mine and he ships nation wide and is very reasonable. Joan Jav917
