BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) allows the holder to register to practice veterinary surgery and animal care. http://www.unimelb.edu.au/HB/1996/Vet/Vet-intro.html
It's very much like our DVM's; however, someone with a BVSc (to my current knowledge) is not licensed to practice veterinary medicine outside of Australia, New Zealand or Britain.
However, their knowledge and education is very similar to our DVM's.
