Question

swollen & hard stomach

Sent to Pet Experts July 04, 2006 11:29 p.m.

Neopolitan Bull Mastiff has not been going to bathroom, and his stomach is swollen and hard. He looks like he is about have a litter of six! He has not been neutered and is about 7 or 8 yrs. old. Has an enlarged prostate, only one testicle, the other's inside I guess. Has not been very interested in his food, but still loves people food! Been giving him lots of ice cubes and pedyalite. His stomach is huge! What could that mean?

No vomiting or anything, he seems to be holding everything down fine.
He has been urinating, but not as often or as much as he has been drinking.
He is too big & heavy to really pace anyway, but he does seem uncomfortable - like he probably feels like he's really full.
Progressively getting worse over the last month, now it looks like an old swayback horse - with his backbone sticking out and a HUGE belly.
