Question

maltese blood in urine

Sent to Pet Experts June 28, 2006 6:56 p.m.

My 6 year old male, neutered, maltese has recurrent blood in his urine. Last July our vet removed several large calcium oxalate stones. put on prescription diet dog food at that time to prevent recurrence. Has another one now along with the following radiologist interpretation: "left heart enlargement with overlap of the diaphragmatic shadow in the lateral to meidal projection. Increasted sternal contact and vascular pattern is extremely prominant. both kidneys normal size when compared to 2nd lumbar vertbra. question the opacity in the retroperitoneal space ventral to L5 & 6. Ruling out the potential for urethral, calculi in the os penis or other calculi in the bladder very difficult.   Prostate exhibits early parenchymal mineralization and would suggest the possibility of prostate disease.    My vet says I need to see a specialist but doesn't know where to refer me.   can you help? thanks, Beverly Miller, Customer (name blocked for privacy)@ao.com
