I'm worried about my 6 yr old maltese. He had an episode earlier this year with circling and his head tilt to the left. We have ruled out any possibility of cancer or tumors due to a number of test we had performed on him. My maltese came out of it himself and was back to 100% normal in about 2 days. Four days ago, he had a second episode. This time lasting for less than a day. Doctors haven't got a clue of what could be wrong. I am now exploring the possibility of it being a pinched nerve or perhaps a stiff neck (as though he had a crick in his neck, sleeping bad, etc). Can you provide me with any direction?

REPLIED Check Mark

This sounds like vestibular disease. It can be due to an inner ear issue or a neurlogical one.
You can read about this problem here

It might be due to a neck issue so you can see if swapping to a harness for walks will help.
You might also want to check with a veterinary neurologist if you think its not from inner ear issues.
Hope this helps you!

No, it is not vestibular disease. He was checked for numerous issues, including an MRI and a Cat Scan. He currently walks on a harness. So I'm sorry I appreciate you trying, but no this does not help. And thank you for the site address for vestibular disease, but that information comes up quickly online pertaining to the same symptoms I provided in my question to you. I will have to continue my search in helping my maltese.

Thank You.
