pet is shaking and not eating. acting all most scared

pet is 11 years old and in great health. starting yesterday after going out to the bathroom, she came back in and started shaking uncontrollably. She is not wanting to go back outside to the bathroom. in fact, we do not think she needs to go. we are not noticing her eating or drinking. the dogs always get a treat after coming back in from the bathroom and she is not even taking her. she is going and hiding.
any suggestions as to what might be wrong? a friend said she may have been bitten but i looked last night and there was not a bite mark. i am confused as to what could be wrong and as to what to do.
