We have a white Pitt Bull who scratches constantly ...

We have a white Pitt Bull who scratches constantly and makes sores that bleed easily
I took him to the vet and was given Prednisone and a Antibotic which did not seem to help. He has lost alot of hair around his rump which has sores on it..among other places..What could be causing this and what can I do?
