Yes tranquilizers are definitely an option. Some of our clients try benedryl first, but sometimes this has a reverse effect. I would recommend calling your vet and asking for acepromazine. Make sure you give it to her 45m-1hour before her visit. Sometimes in very rare circumstances the veterinarian has to completely knock out the patient to be able to put their hands on them. Let us hope this isn't that circumstance. Sometimes as they age they start mellowing out. Sorry the visit was so stressful for both you and your pet.
