My 5 1/2 month old lab was diagnosed with Kennel cough

Sent to Pet Experts May 18, 2006 3:09 p.m.

My 5 1/2 month old lab was diagnosed with Kennel cough 2 days ago. She is scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks ( spaying). IS it safe for her sedation or should I reschedule for a later date?
Thank you.

Kennel cough usually will run its course within 7 - 10 days. How is she doing? Is her cough getting better, worse or staying the same. If she's getting better she should be fine for her surgery - but if you have ANY hesitations, then definitely reschedule her surgery. Moms know best. :)

Thank you.
As of this weekend, no cough and acting perfectly fine!!
Surgery is scheduled in 9 days, if she continues to do well, I keep the date.
