My yorkipoo is having resporitory problems, I think. Her breathing is somewhat shallow and her heart skips beats. What do you think is wrong? She is 3 years old and sleeps most of the time. She is not really active until she goes outside and is a little more active.

Optional Information:
Age: 3; Female

Already Tried:
I had been giving her spirts of Atrovent. I put the inhalor about 6 inches away from her mouth.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

You can only speculate at what may be wrong without a physical exam. Dogs normally have a regularly irregular heartbeat, but they can also have skipped beats due to heart disease. The shallow breathing is subjective and may be normal for her. If you are using an inhaler, you need to know what medication you are giving and why. Some medications are fine for humans but can be poison to dogs. NEVER give a human medication to your dog unless you check with a veterinarian. For inhalers to be effective in dogs, a specer and face mask are needed. If you have not used this, you are just wasting the medication.
Have a veterinarian check her out. She may be normal or she may have a problem that could be corrected or controlled.

What would be good for her sinus drainage? My vet doesn't seem to think the mucous in her throat is any problem, but it bothers me. You can hear it. She's been doing this since we got her when she was a pup.

What color is the drainage from the nose? Green? Yellow? Clear? Does she honk? Snuff?
