Sent to Pet Experts January 02 08:05 AM

My Blue-Gold Silky had 5 pups with a 6th one still left. When iwent back to check the pup had been born but the head and part of the body was detached. Puddin-Pie the mother, was clear of anything in her stomach. Is this normal? Is it normal to have a little watery red blood draing after 4 days? Puddin is not eating very well at all. Do you have any suggestions? She also comes to me and whines. When i follow her she just wants me to stay with her and the pups all the time. Puddin just turned 6yrs and yes she IS spoiled! All 5 pups are nursing just fine and growing. Thank You, Barbara Eatherly baeatherly88@yahoo.com

No this is not normal and it is possible that she has retained part of the puppy inside if she is still haveing some watery red bloodn draining I would highly suggest that you have her examined by your veterinarian so they can do an exam and x-rays to make sure that she does not have any remains left inside or has contracted a uterine infection as both can be very serious. I think she is trying to let you know that she does not feel good and your best bet is to have her seen to rule out any possibility of infection that would require antibiotics especially since it has been 4 days and she is still having watery bloody discharge.
