Goldens are prone to hemangiosarcomas. Has your dog been diagnosed with one?

My husband took him to our vet, he did not get the name of the illness, it can have surgery, but does not prolong life much, we were told, he will eventually die from this, nothing we can really do, just have him put to sleep before he suffers to much. do you agree, any help would be appreciated.

No tests taken, just thru his examination, drs knowledge of this type of symptoms. Dog lays, seldom moves, drinks some water, eats ocassionally, about every other day is a day he will walk around, wag the tail eat and drink a little. He will soon be eleven years, old, no other problems, has been healthy all along. Very bad breath, teeth are fine. always been a finicky eater, no bones ever, dry dog food, canned meat or table scrap meat has been the diet.

Well, with me being the skeptical doctor...I am amazed any vet can do no tests and just say there is no treatment.  Would you take that diagnosis for yourself?

I guess I am not convinced anything has been diagnosed from what you describe.

No xrays to document a possible tumor...is there bloody vomit? How does anyone know it is a tumor and not an ulcer? Has the dog been on any medications for other reasons???

Just not adding up!

NO dog has not been on any medications, would an xray show a stomach ulcer? Vomit is clear has only occurred once. Would the blood test show an ulcer? No I would not accept this diganosis for myself, should I insist on xray or blood test, or take him to another vet? Thanks so much.
