Question

pug baby

Sent to Pet Experts April 15, 2005 9:41 p.m.

We rescued a very small chinese pug baby. 8 wks old and only 1.1 lb. Now a week later he weighs 1.25 lbs. What I wanted to know is: Is this a good weight gain for such a starved little guy? and Is there anything else we could be doing to help him along besides lots of love and affection and 4-5 feedings p/day with lamb & rice canned puppy food- a little kibble and some warm water. The canned puppy foods higher in fat made him sick, as well as the puppy milk. His name is Truman

It sounds like you are doing everything right.  At 8 weeks of age, he is too old for puppy milk so does not need it.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you be sure to see the vet for a deworming and vaccines on a regular schedule.

Let me know if you still have questions.
