I think that the special diet is going to help a great deal. You will be amazed at the results after you start it.
I have had great success with flushing the ears daily with Epi-Otic (you can get it from your vet) and using Tri-Otic (a cream that you put in the ear). You may need to treat it long term and you have to be diligent about doing it every day.
You will also want to treat the dog from the inside out. You should speak with your vet about a good supplement that will build good health.
