odd behavior since spayed

I have a 5 year old female domestic shorthair. she was spayed a couple of years ago and since then every time she is touched at the base of her tail she caterwalls and bites her foot. could she have been improperly spayed? She sheds ALOT too even with bathing and combing. Please help.
