Maltese with a vet pronounced diagnosis (Neurological)

I have a Maltese she is 9 years old,, and just lately she has been to the vet three separate occasions, the vet couldn’t find anything wrong with her,, she would start crying in pain,, and its just terrifying,, you don’t know what to do...

so my question:

if the problem is neurological,, is there a cure,, or will my dog always have this pain,, for one I don’t understand what this is,, a neurological pain,, it must be excruciating by the way she cries... I need to find an answer.. please respond,, oh yes,, the vet prescribed some prednisone for her,, says it may help, won’t know for 7 days,,, I need some more advice,,

sincerely

I would be interested in what an x-ray would tell you...Usually with indiscriment pain, it can tell you alot so I would have spinal x-rays done prior to seeing any type of neurologist because thats the first thing they'll ask for and if they do it there, it will be much more expensive than your regular vet. I can't guarentee they won't want more x-rays but at least you'll have a set to see if its anything obvious like spondylosis. Click on the below link to read more about it.
Spondylosis (Spinal Osteoarthritis)

I have a couple of questions:

what is a neurological problem,, is it in her back or spinal column, or what ... I don't understand she was perfectly healthy and then one day she started exhibiting this kind of pain,, she would cry and wouldn't let me hold her..

also, what will the Prednisone do for/or not do for her ...??

A spinal issue can result in a neurologic problem if there is perssure on the spinal cord like if there is a dics issue or arthritis. Perdnisone is a steroid that will hopefully help with inflammation. If its a soft tissue problem she has then many times the pred will resolve the problem but if its a disc or arthritic problem then sometimes the pred will make her more comfortable for a while then the symptoms will eventually return. I would keep her quiet like leash walking to potty and no jumping until you can resolve what her problem is.
