Toad

Sent to Pet Experts January 30 11:30 AM

Hi, I have a toad. When I had gotten the toad it was the size of a dime. I have it in a tank with 2 water ponds, half the tank is sand, the other half is mulch, I mist the tank several times daily, He lives in the tank with a gekco, I am waiting for the weather to break so that I may sent him free, However 16 days ago something happened to him, His tonge was stuck out and swellon about the size of his stomach, it is pink in color and it appears that his pulse is beating in it, For 10 days it stayed swollen, on the 11 day the swelling went down, I would continously mist his tonge, he cannot eat, on the 14 day I pushed his tonge in, It has been in for 2 days now, He is still alive. Do you have any kind of advice?    Thank you Very Much

It sounds like he prolapsed his stomach which they sometimes do under stress, illness or possibly parasites will cause this. Unfortunately theres not much you can do about it. Sometimes it will resolve on its own but other times it will result in death. I would have a vet take a look at it if it doesn't resolve by tomorrow.
