Question

Blood in stool

Sent to Pet Experts January 25, 2005 9:54 a.m.

My dog has been having blood in her stool and it seems as though she is straining. Since about 4 am she has had at least 3 bowel movements and all were bloody accept the last 2 where she seems to be straining and there is just little "syrupy" if I can use that term. What’s is wrong with my dog? She is a Shi Tzu and she is about 11 years old.

The blood looks like almost black tiny pools of thick thick jelly. She hasn't eaten since last nite. And it's not a lot of blood, just little drops of blood.
