Do you know if she was vaccinated? How is she acting? Does she appear to be in pain or lathargic?

 Hello,

The loose stool and the pale gums are a warning sign that the dog may be lacking the nutrients it needs to fight off infections and disease. Have you ruled out the option of possible hookworms? Often a dog will present with these symptoms. The following link will tell you more about it in detail:

http://www.drpetra.com/Dogs/Hookworm%20Infection%20in%20Dogs.htm

There are several other diseases that can cause these symptoms as well, and you can read about them at the following:

http://www.lookd.com/dogs/diseases.html

In any case, if the dog seems to be getting worse, or showing signs of pain. You should get him to a Vet for the proper workup in ruling out the definite cause.

The following is a diet you can try to see if it might help ease the discomfort:

I hope this helps you out. if not, write again and someone will assist your concerns.

Take care..

they said they gave her a five in one and wormed her. She is just kind of lying around , when we first brought her home she was very playful but not any more. She doesn't seem to be in any pain even when i push on her stomach a little. Her appitite has seemed to drop also

I replied to the first question she had a five in one and was wormed. When we first brought her home she was eating moist and meaty dog food and the runs started and we went right away and got her puppy food.

Sometimes a change in diet can cause loose stools.  Mucus is normally present in the intestinal tract and it's not uncommon or bad to see it when they have an upset stomach.

I suggest that you remove all the dog food for the next 24 hours.  Make her some boiled chicken and rice or boiled hamburger and rice.  Dogs are usually happy to eat this and it's good for the stomach.  When the diarrhea stops, start mixing in dry puppy food for her until she is eating only the dog food.  Be sure that she's drinking plenty of water.

You will soon need to see the vet for a booster shot and a follow up worming, anyway.  If the symptoms persist, you should get her in to the vet sooner.

Let me know if you have more questions.
