Question

blood testing for hypoglycemia

Sent to Pet Experts December 16, 2004 10:28 p.m.

I want to draw blood to test my little dog for hypoglycemia. How can I do that? I need to know what area on her little body will give me a drop of blood to put on a chem strip to test for blood glucose.

REPLIED Check Mark

You can snip one of her toenails a bit shot and use that drop. Mkae sure you have some kwik stop or a steptic pencil handy to stop the bleeding. Do a bit at a time so you don't go too far..

 Good Luck!

Any of the veins you would used are not going to be able to be explained over the internet. This is something you'll have to go to your vet, watch and practice before starting on your dog. I would check with your vet and ask for an example.

Good Luck!
