what might cause my dog to become unable to walk without
falling as if she is dizzy. it just started all of sudden this morning she holds her head off to the side and has a glazed look in her eyes

It may be a stroke or a bilateral vestibular syndrome. I would have your vet examine her and do bloodwork. Sometimes they can pull out of it with steroid treatment. You will usually see improvement the first 2 weeks then they plateau but its worth the chance to try.
