feline arm trauma

my 7 year old snowshoe cat is favoring his front left fore arm and it does have noticible swelling but there is no loud cry when I inspect the swelling with some pressure to the area. he does limp quite obviously and refuses to land on it when he jumps from pirch to pirch. What is wrong with his arm?
