our five year old male dalmation seems to have some ...

our five year old male dalmation seems to have some type of foot infection, the two center toes on his front leg have red tint to them and he is constantly licking them.
we have tried soaking them in warm water but it does not seem to clear up.
it has been two to three weeks now. Do you have any other suggestions ?
