We own a 11 month old Dobie. At about 4 mos he was diagnosed with a parasitic infection. A few months later he started straining to defecate and had a bit of vomitting. We took him back to the Vet ...they didn't find a anything but decided to put him on another round of antibotics. Since then (5 months) he rarely wants to eat. He is under weight (15-20 llbs). This past week we took a vacation and had Skyler boarded at his vet office. When we returned the vet informed us that he had a urinary track infection. He had been urating blood. She ran test and only found an abnormal amount of blood in his urine and a (uniformally) enlarged prostate, which really concerned her. She put him on Cephalexin for 21 days. He has been taking the antibotic for a week. His urine is yellow but now he has no appetite at all. We have to force feed him dog treats in order to medicate him. He is still losing weight. Is our vet missing something??? Is he too young to have prostate disease?
