This is typical off allergies in dogs. There is a pigment in the saliva of dogs that is reddish orange. When the dog licks, the hair turns reddish. Over the back, the allergy may be a flea allergy. These dogs will mutilate themselves to try and relieve the itching. You need to take this dog to the vet for treatment and to see if there is an infection on the skin causing the odor. If there are fleas onthe dog, the fleas need to be treated as well.
