We found a tame rabbit sunday. Took him to the vet today he said that he had some age on him but seem to be in good health except for ear mites. I noticed today a few hours after his vet visit that he was laying on his belly with all of his feet sticking striaght out and his head seems to be tilted back a little and he's was pulling himself around in a since instead of jumping. Do you have any idea what might be going on with him?

It's difficult to know from a description, but the best assurance I have is that you took him to the vet and the vet examined him Images available only to Customers.

The first thought I had about laying flat (after having a good vet exam that found little more than age and ear mites) is that he may be having a stress reaction (and could possibly be hot).

Make sure he has fresh, cool water (feel free to put an ice cube in a shallow water bowl). http://www.bva-awf.org.uk/pet/buying/rabbit.asp and make sure he has his crunchy things (carrots, wood) for stress relief. Keep his area in subdued light, quiet and calm. Let him adjust (he's been through a lot).

This is one of the best places I know of to find out everything about domestic rabbit care, behavior and nutrition

http://www.rabbit.org/chapters/san-diego/behavior/ (check 'why does my bunny do that?')

Don't hesitate to call your vet back and ask for advice about this. No one will know this bunny better than you and the doctor who had a hands-on visit with him.

Good job!

Reply to TheCaretaker's Post: Thank you so much!! I will watch him thru out the night and if he seems to get worse I will call our vet. We have rescued alot of animals in the past couple of years but this is our first rabbit so I don't know a whole lot about them. So I greatly appreciate the information.
      Thanks, Elishia
