Question

leaking urine

Sent to Pet Experts August 23, 2006 2:28 p.m.

This probably doesn't just relate to Labs. but my yellow Lab started leaking urine 6 or 7 months ago... She is only about 17 months old and she has been able to hold her urine overnight since she was a little puppy. We got her when she was 7 weeks old and she could go through most nights then. The first time I realized it was when I got her out of her crate in the morning and her bedding was soaked....then I could see that she dribbled sometimes. The Vet has put her on a medication that is supposed to help the sphincter muscle, but I hate to keep her on medication as young as she is...They don't seem to have a clue as to why she would be doing this....She did have a bad bladder infection once when we boarded her and went on a trip. She had blood and lots of it in her urine. They put her on antibiotics and it cleared up but said she might be one to be prone to stones.....they found crystals in her urine. She has been checked since and everything turns out normal.....Do you have any thoughts on this....I have even wondered about an x-ray.... Our last Lab developed a cancerous tumor in her colon and I guess I'm just fearing something like that again..
