Question

6 Year old Female Dauschund having Seizure-like episodes

Sent to Pet Experts August 06, 2006 4:43 p.m.

What would cause my 6 year old mini dauchund to seem to have a seizure like episode. She froze and rolled on her side , curling up and non-responsive for about 5 to 10 minutes. When I got her to the vet, she was fine and they couldn't find anything wrong. Heat is not the issue as she is in air conditioning. I brought her home and she started doing it again. What should I do

Optional Information:
Age: 6; Female; Breed: miniature Dauschund

Already Tried:
to give her water, and I took her to the community vet, who sent her home after checking her

It does sound like a seizure. I would suggest if you can video the episode that you bring that to the vet for them to see.
This site goes over seizures and causes and may help you be better able to discuss with the vet what is going on

You can see if the chill in the AC is bothering her - see if bringing her outside in the warmer air revives her. Might be the change from heat to cold that is a trigger for the episodes.
If it is epilepsy she may need meds to resolve this.
Hope this helps you!
