Proposed amputation

My 8 year old himylayan has a tumor on his front paw. 2 and 1/2 toes and 1/3 of his paw have been amputated. The tumor has grown and his leg keeps getting infected. My vet wants to remove the leg to the shoulder. Tests said the tumor was benign. Do you know of any specialist in the southeast I could speak with or take my cat to before I let them remove his leg? I don't have the papers with me but orginally they said it was from a slow growing disease of the blood vessels.
