It's impossible to tell you how often she will have them. Some dogs have one a day and others have one in a lifetime. If she is still having seizures this often, it's time to give the vet a call to re-evaluate and see if they want to up the phenobarb or try a different medication.

Let me know if you want to discuss this more.

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: This is the first seizure she has had since she has been on the phenobarb and according to my husband who was with her when she had the first two over a week ago this one was no bad. I have never seen a dog have a seizure and don't care to again but what can I do for her and will she continue to have them? She is having her blood work done this friday will they tell me then if she needs a higher dose and if so will they ever stop?

The meds are effective for some dogs.

I want you to take a look at this site which may have interesting info and things you don't know:

Then let me know if you still have more questions.

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: Thanks I looked at the web site and read a few articles they were helpful, but I'm still very concerned about these seizures she has. I have no medical records on her and I don't know how long she's had them will they ever stop all together or will she continue to have them. The on she had tonite apparently was not a bad as they other two she had in the past.

I CAN tell you that it's good that the seizures are not as bad as they initially were. This is a good sign. But no one over the 'net can tell you if she will ever stop having them.

But, from what you have described, it looks promising.
