Greetings:
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your kitty.
Yes, I've heard of this before. My beloved cat, Pete, (in memory of) did this for some time - as he was traumatized by the earthquake that we experienced back in 1994 as well as having to move around for a bit. It appears that it is stress related - and since you have already taken him to the vet's...you just need to monitor him closely. Hopefully, all will be well with him very soon. You can make certain that your kitty stays in a quiet environment, give him lots of love and affection. Make sure he's warm and comfortable....Baby him...Talk to him... letting him know that everything is okay. Cats are very smart -- they do understand. My beloved, Pete, calmed down within a month's time......sometimes it takes less time ....or even a bit longer. However, should your kitty show signs of having difficulty eating...such as can't keep food down, or not eating at all, having trouble using his litter box, you should definitely take him back to the vet's.
You can also get an herbal remedy (flower essence) called "Rescue Remedy"....put a few drops of same in his water daily...this will help ease the stress he has experienced. It's 100 percent safe for animals.
I wish you and your kitty the very best. I'm glad you are safe from the hurricanes.
Please do take care.
Bright Blessings.
