My Shih Tzu has got stained like skin under his front ...

My Shih Tzu has got stained like skin under his front legs ( Orangy colour ) he has been scratching quite a bit lately but that has been on his rear end mostly. What could be causeing this discolouration?

The most common cause for this in any itchy dog is "salivary staining". If the dog licks repeatedly (and he may been doing it when you are not home), the saliva will stain the fur.

There is no remedy to remove the stain other than to stop the licking.

At this time of year, treat the dog for fleas with Frontline or Advantage, give 1/2 a Benadryl twice a day for itchiness, and talk to your vet about allergies. VERY common in Shih Tzus....

Reply to Honest_Vet's Post: My dog has been on frontline since he was 3 months old. so I have discounted fleas, or lice. I do however accept that he may have an allery so thank you very much for your help.
