My one year old yorkie has not been using the bathroom

My one year old yorkie has not been using the bathroom regularly lately. He has not had much of an appetite and he does not urinate have a bowel movement for long periods of time. Sometime he may only urinate 2 times in a day. What could be the cause of this?
