I have a 10 year old basset hound. He recently had a bump on his back and it opened up and was a hole that went down into a cone shape.We cleaned it and bandaged it but the bandages kept comming off. it started to close. but now it has turned into a big growth. It bleeds and sometimes oozes puss. what could it be

This could be an abscess or a sebaceous cyst. You need to have your vet look at this to see if it can be treated with antibiotics in the case of a bacterial abscess or if it needs to be removed in the case of a sebaceous cyst.

Reply to dr4pets's Post: THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER. I DID TAKE HIM TO VET THAT MORNING BEFORE I RECIEVED YOUR REPLY. THE VET SAID IT WAS PROBABLY CANCER. SHE ALSO SAID IT SHOULD BE REMOVED. UNFORTUNATELY I WON'T BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE SURGERY. WE WILL HAVE TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP, BECAUSE HE IS SUFFERING SO. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE RESPONSE.
