Question

painful stinky ear

Sent to Pet Experts July 18, 2006 2:21 p.m.

My german shepard is 1yr and 10 months. He is about 114lbs. I took him to a vet about a month ago for his left ear. It was red, sore, got very dirty, and was very very stinky. The vet cleaned both of his ears out and gave him a cortizone shot i think it was. Within a couple days the ear was back to normal. Now his right ear is very stinky and is very painful. He cannot shake his head without it causing pain to him. Do you have any suggestions? Just consider, when he was a pup he had a bad grooming experience. The groomer cut his quick badly and ever since he doesnt like his ears or nails touched b/c he relates it to the bad experience. What can i do? He had to be sedated last time.
