I have a 14 yr old mut (50lbs) who was treated by the vet with pain killers for arthritis in her hips. She became very sick, voimiting and diarrhea (No blood)for a week and half only once a day. I've stop treatment immedatly. I've given her pedalight, tagament, boiled hamburger with rice, and chicken broth. Only small amounts!
she is weak, and stools are still loose, I can't keep going back to the vet cause I'm not made of money!! I love her but the reality is I don't have the money for all the blood work and testing. I will be going back to start a diffrent method for her hips, but only if I can get her feeling better. Is she at that point where there is no return? something else to give her to help her stomach?

Optional Information:
Age: >12; Female; Breed: mix/sheltie more mix

Already Tried:

There is a drug called sucralfate that makes a thick covering coating any erosion in the stomach.
Many of these drugs for arthritis are irritating to the stomach.

There is great injectible drug for arthritis called Adequan that helps to rebuild the cartilage and puts more fluid into the joint. There are no side effects.

Reply to dr4pets's Post: So is this a drug "sucralfate" that is purchased thru the vet or over the counter? and how should I be feeding her until then and or until she is feeling much better?
I have not heard back from this (reply) question, please help. Thank you.

Sucralfate is also known as Carafate and it is a human drug. Your vet may have it or they can call in a prescription for you to a pharmacy.

If she will eat boiled chick and and rice if she is not eating the hamburger you are feeding her. There is a prescription diet called a/d that has very dense nutrition in a very small can. It is like Ensure for older folks.
