Runny Nose

Sent to Pet Experts July 13 11:19 AM

My Golden Retriever stayed at a kennel from July 1st thru Jul 5th. I noticed a couple days after she got home that she developed a cold because she was sneezing and she had a runny nose(Similar to a kid with a runny nose that won't stop). She became more tired as days went by and I noticed 2 days ago that she had thrown up. She hasn't thrown up since and her appetite is good. She still seems tired and she has alot of fluid coming out of her nose. She is only 11months old. Can you tell me what might be going on?

If the fluid coming from her nose is clear this might be nose mites or it might be an upper respiratory infection. If you are seeing a colored discharge she may have a bacterial or fungal infection in the nasal area. She might also have a broken tooth leading to an abcess in the nose area. Either way swallowing infection can make a dog vomit.
And of course she might haven sniffed up something that got stuck in her nose such as a weed seed that is causing this.
She might need antibiotics to get over this or if its nasal mites treatment for that or a flush to remove a foreign object etc.
As its been going on so long I think a vet visit would be a good idea.
Some forms of kennel cough just seem to have sneezing with them so it could be a viral infection too. But with the amount of time that she hasn't felt well, if she were mine I'd have a vet check her.
Hope this helps you!
