my little 6mo old male shitzu ate a toy plastic sword 2 days ago, my vet said all we could do is wait it out, he does not eat a lot any way, and has had no fever or rigid abdomen. He is still playing and actting normal, though he has always napped a lot. Is there anything I can do to head off disaster? Is this something thast happens? how long should it take to pass, and what if it doesn't? Will such an item pass through their small intestines? My vet said dogs commonly ate things that we never even know of. But my dog is so small and the toy sword was probally 2-3 inches long. I am terified. any help?
