benadryl dosage

Our vet told us to give liquid benadryl to our cat who is pulling her hair out possibly from itching. We forget what dosage she said to give. I think it was 5mL for our 8 pound cat, but I am not sure. This was the children's liquid with 12.5 mg of medication per 5 mL. We are in Florida at the moment, but live in Germany, so it is not easy to contact the vet directly. Thanks!
