We noticed our lab limbing yesterday after a long day of playing. We noticed her two front paws were split. What is something we can do to help the pain and healing process?

For today, I would flush the wounds with either hyrdrogen peroxide or sterile saline solution and apply neosporin to the area 2x per day. You can put a toddler sock over them to keep her from licking and further damaging. The only pain medication that you can safely give her is buffered asprin....5 mg per pound of body weight. Tomorrow, give your vet a call and have her pads checked...infection can set in pretty quickly and he may want to start her on antibiotics.

Good luck and hope she feels better soon...try to enjoy your holiday :)
