Cushings & homeopathy

My 8 year old scottie, Jake, was just diagnosed with pituitary dependent Cushings. Now the question becomes, 'which treatment?'. I would like to try trilostane/vetoryl if I can get hold of it in the states. My vet, although not experienced in using it, would work with me and help me get it. Additionally, because I've had M.S. for over 30 years and have treated it homeopsthically with great results, I was wondering if Cushings could be treated homeopatically as well and if so, which remedies would be indicated?

Age: 8; Male; Breed: Scottish Terrier

I suggest if you want solid advice on safety and good quality meds in the homeopathic line that you consider working with a holistic vet. That will be much safer for your dog than making guesses and buying based on internet ads. If you don't have a holistic vet you work with now this site may help you find one.

Many people's pets do fine with Anipryl a med commonly used for dogs with Cushings. This site goes over the disease and treatments

Anipryl addresses the pituitary tumor directly.
I understand the med you want to use is extremely expensive and must be imported from the UK. You can see if this site can get you info on pricing

Hope this helps you!

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: Dear Nancy,

Thanks for your reply. Your answers were good, but I already had checked the holistic vet site that you included and have a list of potential vets in my area who might be helpful. Must research these.
Also, my diagnosing vet doesn't work with Anipryl and doesn't like it. He says it takes too long to evidence effects. He's a lysodren guy. He's open minded though, and if I could convince him, would it be worth it to suggest anipryl first and if that doesn't help, then the Lysodren? What do you think about the Lysodren? Personally, the chemotherapeutic aspects of the drug freak me out.

Does use of Anipryl require periodic ACTH tests as well?
