Our golden is in heat, but she is not locking up, She is 11 days in her heat. They try but just cant lock up.What can we do and can she still have pups even if thay dont lock up. julie

Has she stopped bleeding yet? Some dogs can bleed for 2weeks or longer. They won't mate until she is in standing heat, which is after the bleeding stops. Your vet can do a vaginal smear cytology on her to let you know when she is in standing heat. Are you taking her to the stud? That always works better for him because he is in his own surroundings.
