Question

Bunny Diarreah

Sent to Pet Experts June 21, 2006 10:48 a.m.

I have raised 3 wild bunnies since they were about 4 days old( their mother was killed and they had no fur, eyes closed. They are now about 3 1/2 weeks old. They were fed KMR kitten formula and successfully gave them solid foods because we gave them Benebac and probiotics. All three doing well, our intent is to let them go but they still want formula. My question is one bunny has taken a turn for the worse, loose mucousy stool, dull eyes, not eating and appears to be loosing weight. We do not know what caused this. We still continue to give some probiotics daily.
Any suggestions? I have some pedilyte in water for electroylites and to help him stay hydrated. After all our hard work we want to save him.

You have done an incredible job as these guys are quite hard to raise. Maybe a stool sample to a vet to see if they have parasites would be a good idea. Ihave attached a link for a woman that has done incredible work with a lot of wild bunnies- though squirrels are her speciality. Email her and she will respond. You may find an answer on her website below.
