Sent to Pet Experts June 19, 2006 6:32 a.m.

I have a 4 month old black poodle and has been in the care of a vet for two days now. The vet said that he can come home today but still has breathing problems and wants to see our puppy again at the end of the week.
Please can you advise me of the best possible ways that I can treat him when he gets home, plus are poodles prone to this. We have another poodle he is 3 years old and never had this problem. Is there any special diet I can put him on to help his breathing in the future as I feel he has never had good breathing and snores loudly when asleep.

Thank You

What is the diagnosis? There are many types of breathing problems so in order to answer your question, I need to know exactly what your vet said the puppy's diagnosis was. Any x-ray results or lab test results would also be helpful.

The diagnosis was a chest infection this I find hard to understand as one time they said he had hurt his back and thats why he couldnt breathe and now they say it was critical but he pulled through I cannot understand a chest infection being critical.
He had no x-ray he was sent home with Tablets.Synulox and Rimadyl he has to return to the vets in three days time. I am still not happy about his breathing, plus he gets tired very quickly
