My Boxer is seven years old. When she chews rawhide bones they become slightly bloody. This has been the case since she was a small pup and for that reason, she mostly gets only Science Diet biscuits for treats. I recently noticed that all four lower front teeth between her lower eye teeth are worn off to the gums (I'm not sure if this has always been the case or if her teeth have broken or worn down). Her upper teeth look fine. I cannot tell if her molars are intact. Is this normal? Her teeth do not look decayed. What should I do?

Dogs are like people- some of them simply have sensitive gums. If she had not had this going on since a pup I would say to see a vet right away as she has something going on. When is she due for her yearly exam and shots again? It may be time for a good dental exam and cleaning. Some dogs wear down their teeth earlier than others. Did she chew things as a pup like rocks, etc.? If her breath is normal and her gums are not actively bleeding then she can most likely wait until her yearlies to have this taken care of.

Reply to Joni's Post: Thanks. But before I get her back to the vet, should I put her on soft or semi-soft food. She's always eaten Science Diet. Any suggestions?
