My Calico Cat is 8 years old. May 19th (Friday) I took her to the Vet for a bath as she has skin dryness and starts losing small clumbs of fur from time to time. My vet administered a feline Leukemia vaccination and an FVRCP-C Vaccine 3 year. She administed the first of a 2 dose Nemex treatment. She gave Rx for 5 mg of Prednisone and 22mg of Baytril. After the first day I cut the baytril in half. My cat seemed to be somewhat piqed so after a few days I stopped the Prednisone and Baytril. 2-3 days after seeing the vet I gave a doze of Advantage on the back of her neck.

My husband and I went out of town the following Wednesday, Thursday, and came back Friday noon. I asked the person taking care of her and my other two catz to give her Prednisone one time while we were gone. When we got back she was o.k. but not quite right. Not eating too well and laying in a new place in the yard in the shade. She usually likes to lay in the sun or partial sun.   Anyway, last Tuesday (May 30th) she didn't eat breakfast or dinner and not much in between. This continued Wednesday morning and she ate a little Wednesday evening. (This from a cat who not only runs to eat her food, but cleans up after the other catz as well). Thusday morning she didn't eat again. On Friday she had trouble getting up the back stairs (20 of them) an sort of hopped with her back legs in one motion. I lifted her up the last step.

Anyway I took her in on Saturday morning (June 3rd). The Vet took an x-ray which was normal; then ran a blood panel - all normal; temp normal, etc. (She administered fluids). She suggested I go back on the Prednisone and call if problems continued. I took her in on Tuesday, June 6 - she was eating a little but would not move from where she was sleeping and I had to bring food to her. She could barely walk - it was clear that it was painful for her. At the Vet's she walked a little and actually hopped up on the seat where I was seated.

Another x-ray with her on her back this time and more blood work. Normal x-ray and blood work (She got fluid injections at the vet). I was sent home with a pain medication (tramadol Hcl)1/4 tab 2 x a day. I've given her two so far. And an appetite stimulator (Which I haven't needed to give her at this point because she's eating again). I gave her the pain med that night - she seemed to perk up a bit but continued to sleep in one spot and wouldn't go to her food dish. I got up during the night and gave her a little food and some butter.

This morning (7th) she was hiding and sleeping at the back of a cabinet in the kitchen. I reached her food into her. She didn't eat much in the a.m. I gave her more 2 hours later and she ate more. After a little bit longer I reached in and brought her out. She was like a rag doll. I stood her up but she could hardly walk and meowwed. I gave her 1/2 baytril; and the pain pill. I called the vet - she said to go ahead with the last prednisone. When Calico tried to walk she kept lifting her left front paw and didn't want to put it down. She meowed when I touched her or picked her up. She has eated quite a bit tonight. I've also checked her urine today in the cat box and there's no blood.

I'm very worried about her. The vet doesn't think she's constipated. I pick her up and move her every couple of hours because I'm afraid of her getting a respiratory infection.   I'm taking her to the Vet again tomorrow morning.

What can this be?          I hope you can help me - I love this cat.
