Question

I give my jrt heartgard plus each month, year-round.

I give my jrt heartgard plus each month, year-round. Lately, she has been having watery diarrhea, with a formed stool every several days. She has also been repeatedly touching her chest to the ground, not feeling much like playing, and coming to her food bowl at mealtime without much enthusiasm. The vet has given her various medications to soothe her stomach/intestine, thinking the dog had eaten something she's allergic to. (She's allergic to many foods, and I cook for her.) This evening, however, the dog passed a formed stool, and I saw small yellow flecks (smaller than rice kernels) in the stool. Since we were out in a big field and I didn't think the dog had any more stool in her body, I was unprepared to pick it up and was forced to just bury it and leave it. I wonder if it could have been whipworm eggs, but can't find a picture of them anywhere. I don't know that she could have a whipworm infestation since she regularly takes Heartgard Plus, but all the symptoms seem to add up to whipworm or maybe some other kind of parasite. Ideas?
