Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: I had to put Gypsy into a kennel for 10 days at christmas. When I picked her up she sounded hoarse but I figured she had barked a lot. She also had a little cough and sounded like she was choking at times.I thought it was probably "kennel cough".
As I was playing with her this am I felt a lump in her throat on the rt. side a little above the joint to her leg. I really can't afford a vet visit if it may not be anything. Await your response.              mygypsyrose

It almost sounds like you are describing an enlarged lymph node. This will happen any time there is an infection within the body or if the dog has something strange going on (cancer included).

Because you have been seeing the hoarseness for so long, you are not going to be able to avoid seeing the vet. Kennel cough is self limiting so it would not have lingered for this long.

If you are short on funds, you may want to look into www.carecredit.com. They offer financing for large and small vet bills.

Let me know if you still have questions.
